Armed with the coronavirus relief bill, the president successfully set an agenda and made the grounds favorable to pass the use of a whopping $1.9 trillion for treatment, prevention, and containment of the pandemic and for economic recovery (Robeznieks, 2021).
One of the things which made the agenda a success was the dire need to bring the coronavirus pandemic under control. Besides, Democrats have the majority in both houses; hence the president was confident that the policy would see the light of the day after agenda setting.
Effects On Culture And Political Positions On The Agenda Setters
Both cultural beliefs and political inclinations have a profound influence on the agenda-setting priorities of the agenda setters. For instance, if the agenda setter is a democrat, he/she will only set agenda that is largely in agreement with the party position. Besides, if the agenda setter is from a particular community of individuals, he/she can only strive to set agenda which do not harm that particular community even if it does not benefit them.
