Rondinelli, J., Omery, A., Crawford, C., & Johnson, J. (2014). Self-reported activities and outcomes of ambulatory care staff registered nurses: An exploration. Retrieved January 29, 2021, from https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3951040/
- Summary of article (one to two paragraphs)
This article explain what the ambulatory setting is and it also explains that this is a setting where most of the US community receive care in. In this article a study was done to understand the ambulatory nursing practice and also to get an insight of the current health practices. In this manner they could learn new ways to incorporate the ambulatory nursing practice in the new health sector.
It was found that there is a correlation between the ambulatory care nursing certification and the patient outcome. The results showed that patient outcomes that were mostly affected by the type of nursing care a patient received were patient satisfaction, receiving the correct level of medical treatment and many more.
- How could patient outcomes in the selected setting be improved by certified Nurses?
The certified nurses need to teach and guide new nurses who are still seeking certification. They need to be role models in the new nurses and show them that to satisfy a patient is more important. They need to lead them by doing good practices. The certified nurses need to understand that it is their role to make a good repetition for the nursing community, So their behavior need to be on point. Good communication is also a factor they need to make sure that it is maintained.
The certified Nurses would apply the knowledge they have obtained while working on the ward and studying for the certification exam to patient care. This will be more effective than the efforts of a general practitioner.
- How can clinical certification impact leadership skills in the selected setting?
. Having good leadership skills can also be dependent on clinical certification and it also depends on the setting. The certified nurses in the ambulatory settings need to take charge and guide new nurses. The need to provide them with the information that is evidence based to show them they know what they are talking about. Being their role models can also help with leading them to the right direction. The clinical certification impact leadership skills in ambulatory setting because it can only be the certified nurses who can work with the management to explore new procedures and to gain new information easily and quickly.
