Having communication technologies are tools that help to get the information that is needed quickly. In my current facility Vocera is often used between the interdisciplinary team as well as a mode to call outside lines if needed. Vocera is a technology that also needs to be improved, for instance the only mode to hear is on speaker mode where PHI may be overheard.
